PASSING THROUGH Landscapes by Catherine Doocy

Movement is a central
theme in Catherine Doocy’s painting. In this selection of
her landscapes, clouds roll overhead, horizons tilt and shift,
fields and hills whiz by as we travel down country roads and
highways. Doocy attempts to capture these passing panoramas with
washes of color and energetic brushstrokes. The landscapes are
familiar yet non-specific. They are based on the memories of
local roadways and distant voyages.
Catherine Doocy is a native of South Windsor and a graduate of
the University of New Hampshire and Wesleyan University. An
active participant in Hartford area arts organizations--Artworks
Gallery, the Wadsworth Athenaeum, First Night Hartford--she lives
in Windsor and works in her studio in Hartford.
