Seeking to Improve Copy Services: HBL Opens New Self-Service Copy Room

Babbidge Library users now can take advantage of a new, consolidated, self-service Copy Room opened this summer on Level 3. The room is equipped with seven copiers, five of which are new, and two copy card dispensers. Copiers formerly located in the lobbies on Levels 2, 3, and 4 have been relocated to the Level 3 Copy Room with the hope that more machines in one location will increase the odds of finding one that is available and in good working order.

During the academic year the Copy Room will be staffed by a student attendant to facilitate prompt, professional service for malfunctioning equipment, to clear paper jams, to ensure copiers always have paper, and generally to assist users with copying problems. In addition, the attendant will organize books and journals brought to the room for copying, expediting their return to the shelving staff and to their appropriate location in the stacks.

Additional self-service copiers remain in place on Levels A, B, and 1. An intensified schedule of checking these machines to make sure that they are filled with paper and that minor problems are corrected quickly has been put into place. Copy services provided by staff are still available at the Current Journals/Copy Services Desk on Level B. We hope these new efforts to improve service will result in a high level of user satisfaction, minimizing frustration and delays. Let us know if it is working; ask for Dipa Roy at 486-1158.
