Library Microlab Upgraded

When faculty were asked, in last fall's library user survey, to indicate their priorities for equipment funding in the next two years, copiers led the list, but upgraded computer workstations came close behind. Now, a cooperative funding effort by the Computer Center and the Library, with the promise of additional funding from the Chancellor's Office, is making it possible to replace about 50 outdated microcomputers in the Culpeper Microlab. New Pentium 200 Pro machines running Windows NT workstation and a suite of personal productivity software will be installed in this high demand facility. By late spring, the new machines, all of them networked and Internet accessible and with the capacity to print to a new, high capacity laser printer, will be in place. The Culpeper lab is open whenever the library is open and is accessible to anyone with a UConn ID card or a Community Borrower card.
