Kim Crockett has joined the staff of Collections Services as a processing generalist. She first came to the library as a student in 1992 and became a full-time, temporary copy-cataloger in 1997. She received her BA in Sociology from UConn in May 1997.
John Gwinnell is the library's new Unix system administrator in Information Technology Services. Initially employed as a student assistant in 1995, John served as network system administrator for MAGIC and later worked in a variety of temporary programming assignments. Prior to his employment at Babbidge, John held a variety of consulting, network administration, and programming assignments. He has a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from UConn, and a BA in Economics from the University of Rochester.
Jan Heckman joined the Libraries in January as the new librarian for the Avery Point/UConn Library. He comes to UConn from the Quinney Natural Resources Research Library at Utah State University, where he served as the reference/electronic resources librarian. Mr. Heckman also worked at Mankato State University, the University of Hawaii-Hilo, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Library. He earned his MLS at the University of Illinois, Urbana and has completed studies in aquatic and marine sciences.
George King IV graduated from UConn in 1994 with a BA in political science and has since worked in the Culpeper Library, in Collection Development, and as project assistant for the USAIN preservation bibliography. Since August 1997, he has held temporary appointments in Collections Services, where he is now a processing generalist.
Gail Yuschalk has joined the staff of Access Services as circulation billing adjustment coordinator. She was formerly employed at the UConn Bursar's Office and was for many years an assistant accountant in the Office of the Controller. Her background includes extensive accounting and public service experience.
