The Babbidge Library recently acquired a sub-set (units 1-202) of the literature and language component of The Eighteenth Century, a microfilm collection distributed by Research Publications. The 1860 reels of microfilm now available contain approximately 20,000 works of literature and language-the novels, poetry, drama, literary criticism, phrase books, and dictionaries-that were printed in England during the 18th century, or printed in English elsewhere in the world during this period. There is some overlap with material in the American Culture Series and Early American Imprints (Evans), but the overlap is not large. The collection is shelved on level 1 with other microform research collections. Indexing is available in both electronic and paper formats. A searching guide-HOW TO: Eighteenth Century Short Title Catalogue-is available.
