Recent Work from Three Generations Of the Ziner Family
This exhibit is a celebration of the arts as expressed in the making of books and images and objects; and equally important, of the art of living life creatively. The exhibit tells the story of the Zeke and Feenie Ziner family, a special family whose members have inspired one another to use their hearts and hands and minds to live life to the fullest. Many items in this exhibit are for sale, and a portion of all sales will be donated to the University Libraries.Stevens Gallery, BabbidgeThrough December 31, 1999

Books for the Next Century
At the end of the 19th century, Sir John Lubbock, in The Pleasures of Life, produced the first list of 100 "best books." Since then, many individuals and groups have developed their own lists of the best books. As the 20th century comes to a close, a spate of such lists has appeared. Books for the Next Century aims to encourage viewers to think about which books have lasting value and what makes a particular book significant. The exhibit offers viewers a variety of opportunities to react and comment upon lists that others have compiled. A computer workstation provides access to a website (www.lib.uconn.edu/Exhibits/century/books.htm) where viewers are able to comment on the exhibit and to enter book-related contests for which appropriate prizes will be awarded.Gallery on the Plaza, BabbidgeThrough December 31, 1999
Voices from the Underground
The Underground Press in the 1960s
Selected materials from the library's Alternative Press Collection highlight the movement for social and political change, as well as the vast anti-Vietnam war movement, during the 1960s and early 1970s. This exhibit features originals and facsimiles of some of the more influential underground newspapers published during a tumultuous era in United States history. Materials evoke the colorful, irreverent, and on occasion dangerous protest movements centered on college and university campuses, and in major cities throughout the country. This exhibit is on display through the fall in the Nyselius Library, where it is a part of Fairfield University's "The Sixties Project, Fall 1999." Dodd Research Center
