Unpublished Materials in the UConn Libraries:
The University of Connecticut Libraries provide access to unpublished materials in support of the university's focus on reach and teaching. Reproduction and publication of these materials may be limited by their copyright status as determined by the U.S. copyright law. Please note that in general unpublished works are entitled to the same copyright protection as published works.
Previously unpublished materials may be reproduced or published when they are
- in the public domain; or
- used with the permission of the copyright holder; or
- used under the provisions of a contract or license agreement; such agreements may differ from, and often take precedence over, what is allowed under copyright law; or
- used under the provision of Fair Use, U.S. Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. Section 107 or as determined using a case-by-case four-factor fair-use analysis.
The UConn Libraries retain the right to refuse unpublished materials for reserve or reproduction on the basis of condition, rarity, donor-imposed restrictions, law-related, or administrative concerns. For further details regarding reproduction or publication of previously unpublished materials, please contact the appropriate area or branch of the UConn Libraries.
