Public data jacks in the library are managed by UITS (University Information Technology Services). Users should contact the UITS Help Desk at 486-HELP for assistance in connecting to the network, computer configuration questions, or other PC problems.
Data jacks lit for standard Ethernet are located on Levels 2, 3 and 4 along the perimeter (including Research Studies); and on the Plaza level, in the Reserve Room.
Users connecting to public jacks need an Ethernet card and standard Ethernet cable. Both can be purchased at the Co-op.
Machines using a modem will need an active voice connection. Voice jacks in the public areas are not lit. Research study users should contact Telecommunications to arrange a phone line in their own name.
Users connecting to the network via public jacks will not have the ability to print to public laserprinters on Level 1 due to technical restrictions.
Further questions concerning public data jack information should be directed to Rick O'Toole at x4776.
