Workshops

This personal statement workshop will have a special focus statements required for fellowship and grant applications, with a particular emphasis on the Fulbright, Rhodes, and Marshall scholarships. However, anyone applying for any grant or fellowship is welcome to attend this two-hour workshop, as the general conventions of personal statement writing are applicable to a number of different fellowships and grants. We will begin the first hour by discussing the common requirements for the scholarships' personal statements. We will cover the basic conventions of personal statement writing and look at relevant examples of successful (and unsuccessful) statements. Come prepared to participate in discussion and ask questions. The second hour will offer hands-on assistance with an experienced tutor with a draft the student brings in.
