The following websites can be helpful to students researching statistical data in support of their assignments:

GOVERNMENT WEBSITES:

Centers for Disease Control (http://www.cdc.gov) Health information, fact sheets, disease prevention information & more can be accessed at this site.

Green Book (2011) Produced by the House Committee on Ways and Means, the Green Book contains information on programs which the government funds.

National Center for Education Statistics (http://www.nces.ed.gov/edstats) You will find links here to information from The Condition of Education, The Digest of Education Statistics, and Projections of Education Statistics.

Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (http://aspe.hhs.gov) Serves as the "principal advisor" to the Secretary of Health & Human Services on matters relating to policy development.

U.S. Census Bureau (http://www.census.gov) There is much information available through this site. Of particular note are the following links under Census 2000: People, News, and Special Topics; American FactFinder; Subjects A-Z; FedStats; Statistical Abstract; and State & County QuickFacts.

U.S. Department of Education (http://www.ed.gov) This site contains links to information on policy, grants, research and statistics in the field of education.

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (http://www.hhs.gov) This site allows searching by topic and provides links to information covering the important issues in which the department is involved.

NON-GOVERNMENTAL WEBSITES FROM ORGANIZATIONS OFFERING STATISTICAL INFORMATION:

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) (http://research.aarp.org) A very comprehensive site for locating information on the aging population. In addition, the AgeLine database can be accessed directly from this site.

Annie E. Casey Foundation (http://www.aecf.org) Provides detailed information on state & national profiles, graphs, maps, rankings and raw data on the status of children in the United States. From the home page, follow Kids Count link to Kids Count 2001 Data Book Online & Kids Count Census Data (interactive site).

Child Welfare League of America (http://www.cwla.org)

Connecticut Voices for Children (http://www.ctkidslink.org) An advocacy group for children in Connecticut comprised of professionals in law, education, business, government, and non-governmental agencies. The State of Working Connecticut 2002 and Child and Family Poverty in CT: 1990 and 2000 are two recent reports included on the site.
