UConn Reads Classguide

March 29th: UConn Reads Guest Speaker, 3:30PM, Room 108 (MPR)

Masum Momaya, Ed.D (Harvard University), international women's rights activists, weekly columnist, and curator of a recent exhibit at the International Musum of Women in San Francisco, will provide a critical review of this year's UConn Reads selection Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide" by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. FREE & Open to the Public. [WGSS Spring 2012 Events]

Sponsored by WGSS Center, Zero Tolerance, UConn Reads and the Program Comittee, the Jeremy Richard Library and partially funded by the Activity Fee of Stamford.

Community Vendors, Special Guests- Jack Bryant, President of the Stamford NAACP, William Callion, 100 Black Men of Stamford, Inc, Julia Wade, Member, Board of Education, Stamford Public Schools and Wendy Gerbier, National Anthem Ambassador for the State of Connecticut (download flyer).

February 8th:
Presentation by Anthony Trujillo, the Peace Corps New York Regional Recruiter, discussing the Peace Corps legacy and more! UConn Stamford, MPR room at 12:15-1:15pm.

October 1-28: Library Exhibit: All in A Day's Work: Photographs of Women in Connecticut Industry from the collections of the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center.

October 5, 2011: Lecture: Talk with Margaret Chin, author of Sewing Women: Immigrants and the New York City Garment Industry, in the Multi-Purpose Room from 6:00 to 7:30p.m. Flyer.

October 26, 2011: New Ukrainian Wave presents a musical performance by talented young Ukrainaian musicians: Orest Smovzh (Violin), Arsen Yakovenko (Piano) and Volodymyr Rozdolsky (Double Bass), in the GenRe Auditorium from 6:00-7:30pm.
