Instructors and/or HuskyCT course designers can use this page to find links that he/she can insert into a HuskyCT page. This assumes some knowledge of how links work, and how to insert links into HuskyCT. For instruction on how to use links in HuskyCT, contact the staff in the Instructional Resource Center.

The table below is broken down into three columns:

1. Resources: The links in this column go to the database, where you can search for articles.
2. How to link to specific items: Brief instructions and help pages
3. Screen shot (Where is the link/url I need?): Images of link location that you can copy/paste.

Special Considerations:

• If off campus, students will need to set up VPN or Proxy to use online journals/databases to see articles
• Not all searches within these journals/databases will provide full text, some only provide abstracts or bibliographic citations. If you can't see the full text, your students will not be able to see full text either
• Not all resources that provide persistant links are listed. The eJournal Locator is a good place to search for more resources. Email reserveservices@uconn.edu, if you think a resource should be added below.

• Mark the record by selecting the check box to the left of the record
• Click on "View marked articles" or "marked list" tab
• Click on "My Research Summary"

According to the vendor's help page, this InfoMark at the top of any of their pages indicates that the URL of the page persists even when the session is over. Persistent URLs can be book marked for future reference or copied into an electronic mail message or onto a Web page.

• Search for the article title you need, and click on the underlined/highlighted title to reach the "Article page"
  • For search help in InfoTrac, click on InfoTrac link above, and then Help - Search in left margin
• Make sure you see the Infomark (picture to left)

Science Direct... offers access to the Elsevier Science journal collection (over 1,200 titles), along with journals from a host of prestigious societies and STM publishers. The full text collection of over 1 million articles from 1995 to present covers a wide variety of subject areas and disciplines

• Search for the article title you need
• Click on Full Text + Links next to the article you want to link
• DOI is what you will need. (See screen shot for location of "DOI") Ns=Netscape, IE=Internet Explorer

Note: You can combine http://dx.doi.org/ with the number following doi: to create a link, e.g., 10.1006/brln.2001.2531

EBSCO EBSCOhost is a research database vendor which provides the UConn Libraries access to the American Psychological Association's PsycInfo database and CINAHL - the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature.

• Search for the article title you need
• Choose database to search, (See Image 1 to right)
• Enter search terms
• To find links see instructions provided by EBSCO for saving Persistent Links (Also, see Image 2 to right)
• In some cases, the link will be written in the computer language (html) that can be inserted in a web page. It will look like this...<A href="http://search...">What it's like ...</A>

Finding online journals to use in HuskyCT

1. Go to the eJournal Locator (http://www.lib.uconn.edu/online/ejournals)
2. Enter title of journal/newspaper
3. After results come up, pick link to any resource that is on HuskyCT Safe List (Below is an example with one HuskyCT Safe resource, and one that is not HuskyCT Safe)
   
4. Copy link (For location of link, see instructions above.)
