Academic Search Premier : Research Journals, magazines, newspapers

Even more good databases

Academic Onefile (formerly InfoTrac) - Magazine and research journal articles.

Example search:
Gale Academic OneFile example

  Women's Studies International

Same look and operation as Academic Search Premier but it searches women's studies journals, magazines, books, and good quality Web sites.

LexisNexis Academic : worldwide news, editorials, journalistic reports.

Example searches (can be copied, pasted, and edited in the search box as well):

  • women AND education AND China
  • traffick! AND Nepal -- since women (and girls) are the most prevalent victims of trafficking, adding the terms women or girl is not necessary
  • women AND poverty AND South Africa
  • India! AND ("reproductive rights" OR abortion) -- when mixing AND & OR, you must correctly use the parentheses.
  • Use of the wildcard ( ! ) allows multiple forms of words, e.g. traffick! will yield the terms Traffick, trafficked, trafficking, etc.

Because LexisNexis Academic has thousands of newspapers and millions of articles, you can focus your searches by using "segment" tags. The example above:
