Lending Policies

Request submission
Homer Babbidge Library lends materials and provides photocopies to institutions worldwide. Requests should be sent via OCLC; libraries not using OCLC ILL must register here. Those that have already registered can place requests here.

Fees and loan periods
U.S. Libraries: There is no charge for returnable items; we charge $15 IFM for photocopies to libraries with whom we have no reciprocal agreement. The loan period for books is eight weeks; for A/V 18 days. We do not permit renewals.
Foreign Libraries: we charge $25 IFM for loans (returnables) to Canada, and $35 IFM for loans to overseas libraries. For overseas libraries that do not use IFM, we charge 2 IFLA vouchers for photocopies, and 3 IFLA vouchers for loans.

Non-circulating
We do not lend serials/periodicals; additionally, items held at the Dodd Research Center do not circulate and cannot be scanned or copied.

Non-institutional requests
We do not lend or provide reproduction services to individuals or organizations outside of Interlibrary Loan; please place your request through your local academic or public library.

Requesting materials from other UConn libraries
Requests for materials held at our regional campuses should be sent directly to those libraries. To determine which library holds a particular item, please see the University of Connecticut's online catalog, Homer.
